3 Steps in Installing Countertops

Modern kitchen with custom stone countertops

Countertop installation requires different steps and materials. Each countertop stone offers different qualities, including variations in durability, patterns, and colors. Before installing, explore your options, including granite, quartz, and quartzite. Here are three steps for installing countertops:

1. Measurements

Before countertop installation occurs, it’s key to measure and plan. Our team at E&B Granite can help measure and record the countertop space’s length, width, and depth. This includes any corners, island overhang and sink cutouts. Choose which material suits your needs, whether it’s durable granite or quartz. Each material has a different price point, so evaluate your budget and talk with our team for a quote.

2. Materials

When choosing materials, make sure to look at the types of stones and their qualities. Each stone offers varying benefits, including easy maintenance, longevity, and aesthetic appeal. At E&B Granite, we offer multiple natural stones for countertops to match your style and preferences:

Granite Countertops

Granite is a resilient natural material that withstands heavy use. It’s ideal for kitchens where spills, scratches, and other damage might occur. Granite is also heat resistant and won’t be damaged by hot pans or pots.

Quartz Countertops

Custom quartz provides non-porous and antibacterial properties. The countertops are durable and have simple maintenance. They require little upkeep, and our team recommends using an insulated mat or trivet to avoid damage. This material is common for kitchen or bathroom countertops.

Marble Countertops

Marble offers a veining pattern and coloring. While it does require more maintenance than other options, its natural stone makes it a unique statement piece. It can be placed in either the kitchen or bathroom.

Quartzite Countertops

This type of countertop offers resilience and duality like granite. It offers a limited range of colors and patterns and is low maintenance. It’s ideal for homeowners wanting a long-lasting surface that withstands daily use.

3. Installations

Once a material is chosen, our team will help install the precut pieces. An epoxy adhesive or silicone caulk will support a strong bond. Once the countertop is set into place, we’ll make sure it is set evenly and securely. For added stability, screws and brackets can be placed and attached. Our team will then apply caulk to the seams and edges to prevent moisture from seeping in. If the materials are granite, quartzite or marble, we’ll apply a sealant to prevent moisture from penetrating the stone (which can cause stains) to extend the countertop’s lifespan.

Custom Projects

While we provide countertop installation, we also provide sinks for your custom project. We offer various options, from farmhouse to modern styles. Our team will fit the design seamlessly into your countertop. We also customize projects like bathroom countertops, full-height backsplash, fireplaces, hearths, and more. Our team also restocks stone slabs for smaller projects like bathroom vanities or fireplaces.
