Installation Day? Here’s What You Can Expect for Your Granite Countertop Installation
Granite countertops are beautiful, durable, and easy to clean. They are also resistant to water (when professionally sealed), stains, and heat. Not only do they provide exceptional performance, but they can also increase the value of your home. At E&B Granite, we are committed to helping you get the most out of your granite countertop and our team of experts will ensure proper installation to help maximize the benefits of your new countertop and prevent the need for frequent repairs. Here is what to expect for your granite countertop installation:
Old Countertop Removal
To install a new countertop, the existing one needs to be removed. Although you may be inclined to take on the countertop removal process by yourself, it is not advisable. Attempting to remove the old countertop on your own can result in unwanted damage to your walls or built-in appliances, like stoves. To steer clear of these issues, it’s best to entrust the task to professional installers who have the knowledge and equipment necessary to remove your old countertop safely and promptly using appropriate removal methods.
E&B Granite runs an efficient countertop removal program with square footage-based pricing.. Once the plumbing and cooktop are disconnected, our specialists will then tear out the countertops, haul them away, and dispose of them safely. This will leave your kitchen space ready for the digital templating and installation process.
Cabinet Securing and Leveling
Securing your cabinets to the wall or leveling them can prevent them from falling during installation. If you have a freestanding island, its cabinets should be anchored to the floor to prevent the countertop from tipping.
Cabinetry is to be installed on a true plane and level to within 1/8” (4mm). Areas to receive stone must be stable and rigid and capable of supporting the weight of the stone. Reinforcement may be required at areas in front of cutouts to ensure that they can adequately carry the weight of the stone without flexing.
During the digital templating process, our onsite field technician will take precise measurements, verify that cabinets are secure, level, and note if any additional support will be required.
Countertop Installation
The final step of the process is the countertop installation. E&B Granite’s team of specialists will carry your stone slabs to your home and begin the installation process. The team will then install the granite slab, making sure it is level and secure. Finally, they will apply a sealant to protect the granite and ensure it stays looking new for years to come. The installation process is typically completed in one day but a return trip may be required, depending on the size and specifics (e.g., full height backsplash) of your project.
We are able to provide efficient and high-quality services by planning ahead for our projects. Our initial step involves measuring your kitchen or bathroom and creating detailed layout drawings to ensure a precise fit. By doing so, we can streamline the installation process and complete your project in a shorter amount of time without sacrificing quality. This enables us to create countertops that are exact to your home’s needs, which minimizes the time we spend on the actual jobsite. Our experts also measure kitchen appliances like stoves and sinks early on in the process so our fabricators can mark the areas that need to be cut for proper appliance fitting.
Our design process involves collaboration with our fabrication experts to ensure that your desired specifications are met. This allows us to minimize the risk of potential errors or misunderstandings that could lead to the need for countertop redo’s. After the installation, we can recommend licensed plumbers and electricians to reconnect your plumbing and electrical appliances.
